OBJECTIVE:
To learn about the people and events involved in the establishment of the Plymouth Colony.

TIME:
1 class period

In this exciting activity, the class is divided into five teams that take turns answering twenty questions about the Pilgrims. Play begins with a person from Team 1 trying to answer the first question. If their answer is correct, Team 1 scores 50 points. If not, Team 2 can answer and score 40 points if correct. Each time a wrong answer is given, the next team in order can answer with the point value reduced by 10. Teams take turns going first and the order to be followed is given before each question. A new question is always worth 50 points.

Following the game, class members complete a review exercise by identifying key words, names, and terms being described in a series of statements about the Pilgrims. Correct answers are worth 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 points. A perfect score is 100. Students can use information on the game sheets to help them find the answers.

CONTEST OPTION
The review section can also be presented as a contest as students, working individually or in pairs, compete to answer the questions within a set time limit without looking back at the preceding pages for answers.

Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress. The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment.
