OBJECTIVE:
To become familiar with colonial trade patterns and the influence of England's mercantilist policies.

TIME:
1 class period

Members of the class compete against each other in a contest about trade and commerce during the Colonial Period. Students are given time to identify as many products as they can -- with some help from pre-filled letter clues -- that were traded between the New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies. The competition is fierce!

Following the contest, class members enjoy working on three map exercises showing triangular trade routes.

Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress. The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment.
