OBJECTIVE:
To study the causes and major events of the witchcraft hysteria in Salem, Massachusetts, in the 1690s.
TIME:
1-2 class periods
This fun activity includes three word search puzzles for students. Class members learn about the Salem witchcraft trials by finding and circling key words, names, and terms on the puzzles. These words, names, and terms are then used to fill in spaces that complete sentences in a story about the witchcraft trials.
The lesson concludes with five Thought Questions pertaining to the Salem Witchcraft Trials , which help develop critical thinking skills. Student responses can be discussed afterwards.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included.
